Red Hot Chili Peppers's biography

Red Hot Chili Peppers are a funk rock band based in Hollywood, California and was formed in 1983, in Los Angeles, California. Originally, the band consisted of Anthony Kiedis (vocals), Flea (bass), Hillel Slovak (guitar), and Jack Irons (drums), but after Slovak's death, Jack Irons quit and Red Hot Chili Peppers went through many line-up changes until they settled on John Frusciante on guitar and Chad Smith. After they released Blood Sugar Sex Magik, Frusciante quit during the Japanese leg of the tour, and Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro joined for a short period of time. Frusciante promptly joined again before Californication. The band currently consists of founding members Anthony Kiedis (vocals) and Michael “Flea” Balzary (bass) along with longtime member Chad Smith (drums). Guitarist John Frusciante recently announced he left the band. No replacement has been officially selected yet but it has been reported guitarist Josh Klinghoffer has been playing with the Red Hot Chili Peppers since they reunited in October 2009.
